Story
WeCode KC is an organization that serves the youth by exposing young people to technology in the forms of various programming languages, cyber security, virtual reality, and other computer science projects. Their goal is to give youth the opportunity to learn technology concepts and leadership skills.
The Problem
How might we reach more teenagers in the Kansas City region to share WeCodeKC’s programs/events and mission?
The Solution
Our solution is to create an interactive and flashy-looking advertisement directed towards young people. A game would hold the teenagers' attention for longer, and only including basic information would prevent the users from being overwhelmed. The official WeCode website (and the company's social media platforms) will be linked, in case the user desires more in-depth information.
Target Market
Teenagers and youth are the target audience of our concept, as this advertisement was directed and created with them in mind (after our interview/research work was conducted). From a quick survey and personal experience, WeCode KC's current website and social media did not grab the attention of the teenage mind efficiently.
Societal Impact
WeCode KC will see a greater interest in their programs and events. Users will have an easy-to-use and compact platform in which they can access information and other links.
Next Steps
Funding is needed to put the advertisement up on YouTube. If WeCode wishes, it could also be converted to a web page format and put up on their website as well.
Reflection
Our empathy and communication skills were definitely increased. This project also helped us refine our programming and graphic design skills.
