Story

The Laya Center is a holistic healing destination in downtown Kansas City. Our mission is to provide an oasis within the city that facilitates healing and growth through a unique fusion of ancient African and Ayurvedic tools and techniques. We offer herbal supplements and tea, massages, facials, cryotherapy, and more.

The Problem

Our employers struggled to broaden their client base, aiming to reach out to our younger generation. They noticed Generation Z’s focus on mental health awareness and asked us to consider that aspect in creating a solution.

The Solution

Our solution is the Tropical Relief Bundle. This bundle is a reduced-cost package including a 90-minute full-body massage, Tropical Sunrise FruiTEA with a Mind and Body ReLEAF tea base, Tropical Beach candle, and Mind and Body Relief herbal supplement. This bundle promotes the same mental—and, in turn, bodily—health focus many members of our generation prioritize and seek. The reduced cost and efficiency of bundling deliver the relaxing experience of a tropical vacation without the stress.

Target Market

Though we urge all people to utilize our bundle, our target market is individuals between the ages of 15 and 30 (of or around the age of those in Generation Z) living in or visiting the Greater Kansas City area that struggle with stress and its accompanying symptoms or with mental health concerns seeking natural remedies.

Societal Impact

Not only will our solution benefit the well-being of our clients, but it will enable people to increase their creativity and productivity—a claim supported by countless studies linking lower stress levels to these characteristics—which benefits everyone.

Next Steps

To make our bundle a reality, we'll need to add the drink to our digital menu monitor, add the recipe to our store's records, and advertise it on our website, on social media, and in our store through posters and pamphlets, and on our store's front window.

Reflection

This work has further developed our communication skills with employers and peers. It forced us to improve our time management abilities, and expanded our creativity.

Use of Backer Contributions

We are not currently accepting contributions from our voters. This pitch is part of the ProX competition for $5,000. If people support our bundle with funding, we will use the money to create quality pamphlets and posters to promote it, as well as social media advertisements.
