The Story.

Innovator(s)

This pitch is an example from our initial beta test competitions. The funding amount and contributions are not actual numbers. The team and submission are real though. Create your own goal and your backers will support it! This pitch story is included below...

Channeling empathy and keeping real-world learning at its core, Startland Education brings human-centered design thinking to the classroom in order to create a Kansas City community that values our youth and inspires them as future change leaders and entrepreneurs.

Problem

Teenagers all over the US are struggling with mental health due to social isolation and drastic changes to normal life sparked by the Covid 19 pandemic. It is easy for these vulnerable teenagers to struggle with their mental health in silence especially without the school support systems teenagers are used to.

Solution

We present to teenagers a safe, non-judgemental, supportive, and positive space to work through their struggles. The app offers a community and environment that most teens are more comfortable with than traditional in person therapy. It is also more accessible and cheaper than in person alternatives, offering support groups to ease stress inducing isolation.

Target Market

To begin, we want to target teens in highschool and potentially expand our target market to those from grades 5-12. The most consistent users of social media are in this age group, so our app has a social media design to make it desirable to our audience.

Societal Impact

Our goal is to create a safe space for teens to work through their struggles, and a positive social media app to counter the damage done by platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. There are no apps like this on the market and we would love to positively impact potentially hundreds of thousands of teenagers lives.

Next Steps

To make Hexachat a reality, we need financial support, experts to help us formulate a successful business plan, app developers, and marketing strategy. The Hexachat team is ready to make the app a reality and put 100% effort into the steps going forward. We will enthusiastically accept any guidance or help from professionals along the way.

Reflection

This pitch has been in the making for almost a year. Hexachat has won the Community America Covid 19 pitch competition, as well as getting fan favorite in the same competition. We have social media accounts we regularly update, and the most difficult part is growing our follower base. At this point we have over 100 followers, and are eager to find a strategy to grow our reach.
